CAI Sports AND Upcoming Facilities

Where future begins: New athletic complex to strengthen holistic education at CAI
What began as a vision in the school’s 2023 master plan is steadily taking shape as one of the institution’s most massive developments—a comprehensive sports center and athletic complex designed to elevate student life, strengthen athletic training, and advance the school’s pursuit of excellence.
Envisioned as an integral part of the school’s long-term development, the project will provide students with dedicated and world-class spaces for sports and physical development. The planned facilities include a 200-meter oval with a 100-meter sprint area, football field, basketball court, tennis court, volleyball court, swimming pool, and a covered sports center.
At the heart of the development is an Olympic-sized swimming pool, envisioned to become the first Olympic-sized pool in Capiz and the biggest indoor pool in Western Visayas. More than a landmark facility, the pool is expected to provide student-athletes with a professional training environment within the school grounds, opening greater opportunities for competitive swimming and in-house development.
The school’s planned oval will span 200 meters—half the length of the standard 400-meter track—with a dedicated 100-meter sprint area. Alongside the other sporting facilities, it will create an environment where students can pursue athletic disciplines with greater accessibility, structure, and consistency.
At present, construction is underway for the swimming pool, sports center, and cafeteria, all of which are projected to be completed by February 2027. Their completion will mark a significant milestone in the school’s continuing transformation and its commitment to providing an educational environment that extends beyond the traditional classroom.
“We believe that quality education goes beyond the classroom. Providing proper and accessible sports facilities will give our students opportunities to develop their physical skills, discipline, teamwork, confidence, and overall well-being. This initiative will also help nurture their talents in sports and create a more balanced learning environment where academic excellence and physical development go hand in hand,” said Ms. Joyce “Shine” Artillero, Director of School Operations.
The development is anchored on the belief that quality education encompasses not only academic achievement, but also physical excellence, character formation, discipline, and personal growth. Through sports, students are given opportunities to cultivate perseverance, teamwork, responsibility, and respect—qualities that extend far beyond the playing field.
The facilities are primarily intended to serve the school’s students, particularly its growing community of student-athletes. However, the school also envisions opening the facilities to members of the wider community, especially during weekends, allowing the development to become a shared space for recreation, training, and community engagement.
The project is also a direct response to the demands of competitive athletics. As the school continues to participate in competitions at the national and international levels, having dedicated facilities within the campus will provide athletes with a more consistent and accessible training environment.
Previously, student-athletes would travel to the provincial stadium for practice. With the completion of the new facilities, training can be brought closer to home, with teachers and coaches present to guide, monitor, and support athletes throughout their development.
This vision is already reflected in the school’s existing after-school enhancement programs, which include basketball, volleyball, and football and are open to both elementary and high school learners.
“We offer various after-school sports enhancement programs, including basketball, volleyball, and football, to provide our learners with opportunities to develop their athletic skills, discover their talents, stay active, and build discipline, teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship,” said Mr. Christian dela Cruz, Assistant School Principal.
The forthcoming facilities are expected to expand these opportunities even further, particularly in swimming. Sports Coordinator Ms. Jean Rose Timban expressed anticipation for the establishment of in-house training programs that can accommodate athletes from introductory levels to more advanced competitions.
“I am looking forward to having a swimming pool and other sports facilities, as these will allow us to conduct more regular and accessible in-house training, especially for our athletes preparing for competitions from the lower to higher meets. These facilities will give our students more opportunities to train, improve their skills, and prepare for competitions without having to travel elsewhere. Before, we had to go to the stadium for training,” Ms. Timban added.
With dedicated facilities and professional guidance available within the campus, the school hopes to identify and nurture young talents at an early age. The long-term objective is not merely to produce athletes who win competitions, but to develop young individuals who embody discipline, respect, determination, and excellence through sports.
The project likewise forms part of the institution’s larger aspiration to become an international school—an institution equipped to provide learners with opportunities and facilities comparable to those found in leading educational environments.
Ultimately, the sports center represents more than a collection of courts, fields, and training spaces. It is a physical manifestation of the school’s commitment to holistic education and its belief in the transformative power of sports.
As the school continues to build toward its future, its vision remains clear: “We build our school for champions.”
And by early 2027, as the sports center, swimming pool, and cafeteria near completion, that vision will stand not only as a statement, but as a growing reality—one designed to give every aspiring athlete the space to train, every learner the opportunity to grow, and every champion the foundation to rise.
